We split from the Jackson Group when they moved.
Our first meeting was held on 4.30.03.
Our website was voted in by virtue of a group conscious meeting on June 3, 2003 and we went on-line June 5, 2003
We wish to acknowledge the Grateful Group, the Freedom Group, and the Al Cameron Group, as well as a handful of anonymous AA-member benefactors, for their assistance in our start-up. We received donations from them of money, literature, wall hangings, and furniture.
We also received an original Mel B. (Toledo) photo of Bill W. which has been framed and hung.
Our original location was 209 First Street, Jackson, MI 49201, in a big yellow house in the parking lot behind the law office of Richard D. Hitt, Esq. Smoking was permitted at all meetings except the Tuesday noon meeting.
On October 20, 2003, we moved to 330 W. Franklin Street, Jackson, MI 49203. All meetings are non-smoking.
From the beginning, we held 21 meetings each week. We met at noon, 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. daily. In June, we added a 4:00 p.m. meeting on Wednesdays. By the start of 2004 we had seen the addition of midnight meetings on Fridays and Saturdays, bringing the total number of meetings each week to 24.
Total meeting attendance in May, 2003, was 985 people. In November we served 1,538.
On May 1, 2005, we moved
into the First Baptist Church on the corner of Jackson and Courtland.
